JOAN R. SOLOMON
Nine years ago I was in a depression following the death of my father. As a former ballet dancer I always prided myself on staying in shape. I lost my get up and go and quit going to the gym. Finally, I couldn't stand it and went back to the gym and decided I needed a trainer to help me get back into shape. I knew my father would be proud of his little ballerina. I was placed with a trainer that didn't really understand how to tone down my body. So for two years I endured "painful" workouts on the wrong machines with the wrong weights and my knees getting more painful. After an incident involving this trainer I was assigned a new trainer to take over.
Who is this trainer that has become a part of my "family"? Chris Mentor of Mentors Muscles. Twice a week for the past seven years my body has been "worked" and will continue to work by someone who cares enough to really get to know not only his clients' bodies; strengths and weaknesses, but to understand where they are in life and make the necessary adjustments for the client to continue on to a healthy way of life.

I began working out when I was 18 years old while in college. I immediately
gained mass, but I was not experiencing any gains in strength. I read muscle magazines
and followed the exercises routines given. After 5 years of following these exercises,
I was the same size with no real gains in strength. I experienced the plateau that
everyone experiences sometime in their life. After moving to Tampa, I was asked
by a personal trainer if he could put me through a workout. I set up an appointment,
and he challenged me in ways that I had not experienced. This trainer was none
other than Chris Mentor. His knowledge of the body and nutrition catapulted me to
size and to strength gains that I have never before experienced or imagined. He
knew exactly what my body needed to obtain my desired results.
The M.E.N.T.O.R. challenge has been the perfect compliment to the weight training activity. Chris has perfectly planned each session to get the most out of your body without it reaching exhaustion. The participants do not compete with each other, but rather they encourage one another throughout the entire session. It is a great atmosphere, and I look forward to it each and every week!
Once you train with chris, you will not want to go to another trainer. He makes the workouts fun and interesting, but challenging as well. I have been working out with chris for over a year now, as well as going to his boot camp classes. I am addicted, and can't imagine having another trainer. He is a motivator, a counselor, trainer, and a friend. He knows what he is doing!! I would recommend chris to anybody. If you come out to the boot camp class you will definitely see me there.

I have been training with Chris on and off for the last few years. When I don't train with him I can definitely tell that I have lost muscle mass and strength. He is a devoted trainer who constantly pushes me to the next level! My overall strength has significantly improved as well as muscle tone. I would not train with anyone else. In fact, I follow him wherever he goes! He makes working out fun and even better when you notice all the changes in your body.
Thanks Chris Mentor!

I can confidently say that Chris Mentor is the BEST trainer that I have ever trained with. Chris' enthauism is what intrigued me to train with him. I saw Chris training a group of women and it looked as if they were having a great time. He was paying diligent attention to them and throughout the workout they were laughing and joking. I said to myself, "If he can make working out FUN, then I am in." I began training and dieting with Chris's help and I quickly noticed improvements. I was dropping body fat, getting stronger, and healthier. If I ever had a question about a muscle, an exercise, or a food, Chris was readlily available with advise. I have yet to meet someone who loves their job as much as Chris. It is his love for fitness that keeps me coming back.

I've known Chris for many years now and have seen him develop into the incredible trainer that he has become. I've always been physically active and fairly knowledgeable about fitness. I ran track in high school and my early college years. I eventually graduated from college with a degree in physical education. Despite my functional knowledge, when I began working out with Chris I learned new and creative ideas about fitness and nutrition. It was partially Chris's inspiration that led me to pursue my certification as a personal trainer. I continue to tap his creativity and knowledge to help me stay on the top of my game. Chris's enthusiastic and mischievous personality often makes me forget how challenging his workout is while I'm doing it. Every time I workout with Chris, I look better, feel better, and leave better educated and fired up to help others achieve their fitness goals.

After spending years of inconsistency in the gym I had yet to see the results I wanted. With 65 plus hour work weeks and four kids I could never seem to find the time to work out every body part regularly with "traditional" routines. After just a few of Chris's power packed workouts I could see and feel the difference. I accomplish in two workouts a week what I couldn't accomplish after years in the gym. My functional strength and general mass have grown significantly while my endurance and cardiovascular strength have doubled, after a few months I could even tell a difference in breath control while swimming half and three quarter mile workouts while training for sprint triathlons. The way Chris utilizes different objects and props to help push me to new levels of fitness is always challenging and creative. The best part is I never get bored while working out with Chris. His antics and quick quips keep me upbeat and motivated but I always feel like he knows just how far to push to keep me progressing.

Training with Chris is the right combination of fun and challenge that turns a regular trip to the gym into an energizing experience. I have never been an athlete. I have zero athletic ability. For me, the gym has always been just a way to deal with the stress and trials of everyday life, but the routine of the gym can get old. Having Chris as a trainer makes the gym fun, energizing, and results- oriented. When I need a kick in the butt or want to learn something new, Chris has the answers. He can take your abilities and help you get more from your workout. He always seems to have just the right exercise routine that pushes me towards a new goal or a new result. He knows how to test your limits but always in a way that is fun. When it comes to training, understanding how to get more from your trip to the gym, and making the gym an enjoyable time, Chris is a true professional in every sense. I see the gym as an investment in myself. You invest time (which is always in short supply) and you invest money(to get access to the right tools). Having Chris by my side has without question helped me make the most this investment.

Chris Mentor is a friend. We got to know him as he trained my daughter's volleyball team. After the accident, I immediately called him and said we were going to need him. Matthew was in a right full leg cast (from his toes to his hip) for one month. After the first month, his doctor (orthopaedist) ordered 4 weeks of physical therapy (non-weight bearing). They referred me to physical therapy with their facility and I told them I knew a physical therapist and would be taking him to Chris Mentor. Matthew and Chris began working together with ROM (range of motion) and strengthening exercises twice a week. Matthew was just barely able to bend his leg when he started working with Chris. He was at approximately 75 degrees. After only one month of training, he was able to bend the knee to approximately 135 degrees and was able to move it and get comfortable with the rotation of his leg. Chris helped him get used to the way his leg felt, moving it, with screws inside. Now, the physical therapy wasn't easy. We had to ice his leg after therapy sessions and Chris even gave him homework! Matthew had lots of exercises to do at home in-between sessions. At Chris' direction, we also had Matthew in the pool as much as possible to continue strengthening his leg. Matthew said "Chris was very gentle and he didn't expect that. He said he really took his time with him and they worked very slowly at first".
The doctor examined Matthew after 4 weeks of physical therapy and was impressed at the progress Matthew had made in such a short period of time. Since then, we have been back to the doctor for follow-up and Matthew's fractures are healed. You can't even see the cracks on the x-ray. The doctor has released him to weight bearing physical therapy. He is still not allowed to run or jump for another six (6) weeks. He continues to train with Chris, doing lunges, squats, stretches, range of motion exercises, etc. I know in just a few more months Matthew will be back to playing lacrosse and running around with his friends in the neighborhood. We owe Chris everything. He has put our family back together again.
Thank you for being there.

My 13-year old son, Matthew, was involved in a terrible car accident in February 2011, where he was struck and pinned between a car and a garage door. He was rushed to Tampa General Hospital where they immediately ordered a CAT Scan to check for head trauma, internal injuries and injury to his spine. After the scan, the doctors came to me smiling and said "Mom, he is going to be fine. We can't believe it, but there was nothing on the CAT Scan". Could it be possible that he walks away with no injury? As his Mom, I knew something was still wrong. He continued with cries of pain to his legs. Finally, the doctors ordered x-rays of both legs. When the results were in, they pulled me aside. His right (femur) leg was broken and his growth plate was crushed. They explained that this particular growth plate is where he gets 60-70% of his growth. He may have long-term damage as this may interfere with his growth as he matures. I was devastated. After I broke the news to Matthew, we both just cried in each other's arms. He underwent surgery the next morning. It was a closed-reduction surgery where he had two screws placed inside his leg. We were looking at months of recovery.
Seven years ago my new trainer actually did measurements, diet and correct
techniques to get me into shape. I was finally on the road and have been on it
ever since. I don't know the time table of having a trainer but I am still with my
"new" one all these years later. I have toned down to where I can wear my
college jeans, and smaller sizes in new apparel. The diet has changed as well as
the body, we all get old and have to face mother nature. My trainer has seen
me through emotional, and physical changes. He has seen my through the death
of my mother, the severe accident of my niece, the birth of my great-nephew and
participating in the Great American Teach-In every year at my school..Seven years ago my new trainer actually did measurements, diet and correct techniques to get me into shape.
